Discount and advertising rules in the UAE and Saudi Arabia
Key points every seller should know about prices, discounts, ads and influencers in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Rules change, so always check with the authority.

This article sums up well-established points; it isn't legal advice. Laws and regulations change, and details can differ with your business and your emirate or city.
General rules in both countries
- Prices shown to consumers must be clear and include VAT. On Majyk Danya every price is entered with VAT included.
- Descriptions and ads must be truthful: no false claims about a product, its origin, its specifications or its results.
- A discount must be real: the “was” price is the price the product really sold at.
- No fake deals: no false countdowns and no untrue “limited” quantities.
- Prizes and draws that depend on chance can count as gambling or need special permits, and the platform doesn't allow them.
- Health and medical claims need special care and may need official approval; on the platform they are reviewed before publishing.
In the UAE
- Federal consumer protection is the Ministry of Economy's responsibility: clear prices, truthful descriptions and no misleading ads.
- In some emirates, such as Dubai, sales and promotions need a permit in advance from the economic department (in Dubai, the Department of Economy and Tourism).
- Anyone promoting products for pay on social media needs an advertiser permit from the UAE Media Council.
- Consumer prices include VAT under the Federal Tax Authority's rules.
In Saudi Arabia
- The Ministry of Commerce requires a discount licence before any discount is advertised; it is requested online through the ministry's services.
- The price before the discount must be the product's real previous price, and the advertised percentage must be accurate.
- The E-Commerce Law requires the total price, delivery costs and cancellation and return terms to be clear before purchase.
- Paid advertisers and influencers on social media need a Mawthooq licence from the General Authority for Media Regulation.
- Prices are shown with VAT included, and invoices follow ZATCA's requirements.
If you work with influencers or promoters
- Before agreeing, make sure they hold an advertiser permit (UAE) or a Mawthooq licence (Saudi Arabia) if they promote for pay.
- A paid ad must say that it is an ad.
- Send buyers to your store page on Majyk Danya, and don't publish your number or another way to buy off the platform.
- In “Share and earn”, the sharing page reminds anyone promoting for pay of these two licences and lets them add their licence number.
Applying this on Majyk Danya
- Don't put a discount or “offer” in the title; the listing rules refuse it.
- The platform takes no “was” price from you; price-history labels are worked out from real prices. Read Fair pricing.
- Discounts you give through programs, such as a Majyk Plus members' discount, must be real. Get any licence the country of sale requires before advertising them.
- Don't promise discounts, quantities or deadlines that aren't real in live shows or ads.
