Market research: what buyers want and where the openings are
A monthly tool that shows what buyers search for on the Majyk Danya store, demand nobody meets yet, category growth, prices and competition, from our own store's data only and as totals only.
In this article
Market research, one of the Seller tools, helps you choose what to sell and how to price it before you buy stock. Everything it shows comes from the Majyk Danya store itself: searches, orders, “request any product” posts, wishlists and offers. No other marketplace's data is used.
The two plans
| Section | Basic | Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Top searches over 7 and 30 days | Yes | Yes |
| Opportunities: searches with no or few results | Yes | Yes |
| Waiting demand by category | Yes | Yes |
| Fastest-growing categories | Yes | Yes |
| Price bands and competition by category | Yes | Yes |
| A deep-dive into any category with the opportunity score | No | Yes |
| Your products in the market: first place, rivals' prices and stock | No | Yes |
| Downloading the numbers as CSV | No | Yes |
Each plan's price in your country is on Seller tools, taken monthly from your available balance. Before you subscribe, the tool's page shows an illustration with made-up numbers. See Seller tools for subscribing and cancelling.
What each number means
- Searches: how often buyers searched the store with these words in the period. Words are counted after spelling is unified (Arabic letter forms and digits), and the same visitor searching the same words counts once a day.
- Change: the difference from the previous period of the same length. New means there was nothing to compare with.
- Found little or nothing: the share of searches that found no product or only 1 to 3. A high share is an opening: buyers look and don't find enough.
- Result clicks: how often buyers opened a product page straight from these results.
- Waiting demand: open “request any product” posts in the category, the “I want it too” clicks, products saved to wishlists, and buyers waiting for a sold-out product.
- Fastest-growing categories: orders and sales value in the last 30 days against the 30 before. Paid, cash-on-delivery and 30-day-terms orders count; cancelled ones don't.
- Price bands: the category's current first-place prices with delivery. A quarter of products cost less than the Lower quarter, half less than the Median, and a quarter more than the Upper quarter.
- Competition: the average number of sellers per product and the sellers in the category. It is light, moderate or heavy from that average and how concentrated sales are.
- Sales concentration (Pro): a number from 0 to 1 worked out from the sellers' shares of the category's sales, without naming anyone. Above 0.25 a few sellers hold most sales; below 0.15 the category is open.
The category deep-dive and opportunity score (Pro)
Pick any category to see demand week by week over 90 days, the first-place price over time, competition, its top search terms and the categories inside it. The opportunity score out of 100 adds up six parts, each with its reason written out:
| Part | Weight | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Demand | 25% | Units sold, searches and waiting wishes in the last 30 days |
| Trend & season | 15% | Rising, stable, falling or seasonal, from the year's sales once there are enough, otherwise from the last 30 days |
| Competition | 20% | Sellers per product and sales concentration |
| Price band | 10% | Whether the median price sits in the comfortable band: not so cheap that fees eat it, not so dear that it ties up capital |
| Unmet demand | 20% | The share of searches that found little or nothing, and open product requests |
| Fit for you | 10% | Whether you already sell in this category or a neighbouring one |
Your products in the market (Pro)
- In first place: the share of hours over the last 30 days your offer held first place on the product page. We check it every hour. See Offers and first place.
- Lowest elsewhere: the lowest price with delivery another seller offers for the same product now, and how it moved over 30 days. No competitor is ever named.
- Lasts and Reorder: how many days your stock lasts at your sales speed (units sold in the last 30 days, or since the offer was added if newer, at least 7 days), and how much you need to cover 30 days.
- Stock alerts: Runs out within a week at 7 days or less, within 2 weeks at 14 days or less, and Under a month left at 30 days or less. When sales are few, we say the estimate is rough.
Privacy
- Every number is a total. The tool never shows a buyer, a single seller's sales, or any competitor's name.
- Search words used fewer than 5 times, any group with fewer than 3 sellers or fewer than 5 orders, and wishlist or request numbers from fewer than 5 buyers stay hidden; a “—” shows instead.
- Searches are kept only as daily totals per country and words, without the buyer's account or device address, and deleted after 13 months. Searches for a product number, a barcode or any contact detail are never kept.
When the numbers update
The numbers update every hour, and the time of the last update shows at the top of the page. At first many sections are empty or hidden; they fill as sales and searches on the store grow.
