Automatic pricing
Set a lowest and highest price per item and let the platform move your retail price every 5 minutes to stay in first place without going below your floor.
In this article
Automatic pricing watches the competition for you on each offer you choose. You set the two limits, and the platform picks the highest price between them that keeps you in first place.
Turning it on
- Open My products and find the offer.
- Open “Offer tools”, then “Automatic pricing”, and press “Turn on”.
- Enter the “Lowest price” and “Highest price” per item without delivery, in the country's currency, like 150 or 150.50.
- Press “Save”. If your current price is outside the limits it moves to the nearest one at once; otherwise pricing starts within 5 minutes.
To change the limits press “Change limits”; to stop, press “Turn off” and the price stays where it last was. An offer with automatic pricing on carries an “Automatic pricing” badge in My products.
How the price moves
Every 5 minutes we look at the other sellers' offers on the same page in the same country:
- A competitor holds first place: your price drops at once to the highest price that wins it back, counting delivery price, account health, rating and delivery speed as in offer ranking.
- You hold first place: your price rises step by step toward the highest price that keeps first place, at most 5% each run.
- No competitor: your price climbs toward your “Highest price”, at most 5% each run.
- The price never goes below the “Lowest price” or above the “Highest price”.
- Your own other offers don't count as competitors.
When a competitor goes below your floor
If winning would need a price below your “Lowest price”, your price stays at your floor and you get “A competitor is cheaper than your lowest price” under “Competition alerts” on Home, with “Your lowest price with delivery” and “Competitor's price with delivery”, never the competitor's name. At most one warning per product and country every 6 hours. It's your call: keep your floor, or lower it if the sale stays profitable.
Change history
Under the tool, “Latest price changes” lists the last 5 changes with the time and reason of each:
| Reason | Meaning |
|---|---|
| “down to beat a competitor” | Lowered to win back first place. |
| “up while you're first” | Raised a step because you hold first place. |
| “held at the lowest price” | The price reached your floor. |
| “reached the highest price” | The price reached your ceiling. |
| “up with no competitor” | There's no competitor, so the price rose toward your ceiling. |
Rules and limits
- Retail price only. Wholesale prices stay manual.
- It only works while the offer can win first place: new and in stock.
- Each limit is checked as if you typed it as the price. If either is far from the other sellers' prices (below 30% of their median or more than 3 times it), it's refused, and the “Lowest price” must not be above the “Highest price”.
- If you change the price by hand while it's on, the next run starts from your new price and moves it within the limits.
