Verifying your identity (UAE PASS and Nafath)
Confirm who you are with your country's official digital identity: how it works, what it gives you and what we keep.
In this article
You can verify your identity with your country's government digital identity in a few minutes, from the Identity page. It is an official check: the confirmation comes from the government service itself, not from a picture you upload. It is optional, but it speeds up your review and builds buyers' trust.
Which service for your country
| Country of registration | Service | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| United Arab Emirates | UAE PASS | A verified (upgraded) UAE PASS account. A basic or visitor account isn't enough. |
| Saudi Arabia | Nafath | Your national ID or iqama number (10 digits), and the Nafath app on your phone. |
| Other countries | Not available yet | Nothing: your documents are enough for the review. |
Verifying with UAE PASS
- Open “Identity” in the side menu, under “Account”.
- Press “Sign in with UAE PASS”. The official UAE PASS page opens.
- Approve the request in UAE PASS. You come back automatically and see “Your identity is verified.”
- “You are not eligible to access this service…”: your UAE PASS account isn't upgraded or is a visitor account. Upgrade it, then try again.
- “That took too long; please try again”: a request lasts 15 minutes, so start again.
- “You cancelled before it finished”: you cancelled in UAE PASS. Start again whenever you like.
Verifying with Nafath
- Open “Identity”, enter your “National ID or Iqama number”, then press “Send request”.
- A large number appears on the screen. Open the Nafath app and pick the same number.
- The page waits for your approval and updates by itself, then shows “Your identity is verified.”
- A request lasts about 3 minutes. If it expires, send a new one.
- At most 5 requests an hour.
- If you decline in the app, you see “The request was declined in the app.”
What verification gives you
- A faster review: the review team sees your identity is officially confirmed.
- An “Officially verified identity” badge on your store page, next to “Verified seller”.
- A finished item in “Your account setup” on your Home page: “Identity verified”.
- Protection against impersonation: no account can be verified with your identity without your approval in your government app, and our team can see when the same identity is linked to more than one seller account.
What we keep
You see the name as the government service sent it and the last 4 digits of your ID number. We also keep what the service sends about nationality and account level; the full ID number is stored encrypted. You see the result on “Identity”, and on “Account” under “Account security”.
